| Brief synopsis of activity | A programme of novel organic chemistry laboratory experiments based in microscale organic chemistry and adopting microwave methods, significantly reducing the environmental burden of the laboratory course. |
| Detailed description | Traditional chemistry often involves hazardous materials and methods. Thus, it is important to develop novel educational technologies that would enable this risk to be minimised and at the same time avoiding reducing the contact of the students with experimental chemistry. Over the past few years a novel program of organic chemistry laboratory for undergraduate students has been tested that is based on microscale organic chemistry and adopting microwave methods. This has enabled the environmental burden of the laboratory course to be significantly reduced. |
